DAY 1: DANANG – HOI AN

Pick up from Danang airport then drive a short distance to the ancient town of Hoi An.

On arrival, check in the hotel. Then, head out for a walking tour to explore the town Between the 17th and 19th centuries, Hoi An was a prosperous trading port. Today, this World Heritage-listed ancient town boasts well-preserved buildings, pedestrianized streets and unique cuisine, allowing visitors a glimpse of its illustrious past. There is plenty to visit including the old merchants’ houses with influences from Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese architecture; the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge; the Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation with outstanding wood carvings; and the colorful market with stalls brimming with local specialties including silk, which can be turned into fashionable garments within a day or two.

An optional stop, subject to availability, is the private home of Diep Dong Nguyen with a stunning collection of artifacts ranging from pottery, seals and paintings, to money and old Hoi An photography.

DAY 2: HOI AN

After breakfast, we have a special village bicycle tour arranged. You will start with cycling along the Thu Bon River where you have a chance to take photographs of many fishing boats and small houses. Continue biking through Thuan Tinh Ecological village and take the opportunity to see areca-nut gardens, family shrines and local villagers going about daily life. Continue cycling along quite inland trails, pass water-coconut palm trees, fishing farm and rice paddies to reach Cua Dai beach. Cam An is a local fishing village with charming ocean views, many kumquat gardens and corn fields. On your return to Hoi An town, you may wish to stop by Tra Que village where many famers cultivate herbs and vegetables. Help water the plants or fertilize the land if you have no problems getting your hands dirty. Cycle back to your hotel.

DAY 3: HOI AN – DANANG – HUE

This morning after breakfast, depart Hoi An for Hue (approx. 2.5 hours) - served as an imperial capital to the Nguyen Lords, a feudal dynasty, which reigned from the 17th to the 19th century.  With splendid emperors’ tombs, ancient pagodas and the remains of the Citadel, the city retains its royal charm. Stopover to visit the Marble Mountains, an ideal sanctuary for VCs during the war and China Beach, the former playground ground of the US Marines. The Cham Museum houses the best collection of Cham ruins in Asia. The artifacts here date from the 2nd to 15th centuries. Continue the scenic drive over the Hai Van (Ocean Clouds) Pass, the summit of which presents a spectacular panoramic view of the central coastline. We make a stop at the Lang Co Fishing Village located on a sand dune line for a photo opportunity. Upon arrival, check in the hotel, overnight in Hue.

DAY 4: HUE

After breakfast, start the tour from your hotel with a 10-minute cyclo ride to the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO site. Enter through the towering main gate and you will appreciate the magnificent architecture and gardens while your guide explains about the events and the intrigue of the former royal court. Despite being bombed heavily, there are some incredibly well preserved sections still intact and others that are being lovingly restored. From there, another 20 minute cyclo ride takes you to a pier where you will embark on a half-hour boat trip on the picturesque Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s best-preserved religious monument. Standing on the riverbank with its seven-story tower, the pagoda is a sight to behold.

In the afternoon drive out to the elaborate Khai Dinh Royal Tomb. It’s architecture and atmosphere showcase elements of eastern art and western designs. Continue to the serene Tu Duc Royal Tomb, designed to blend in with its nature surroundings and built on principles of feng-shui. Transfer back with an optional stop en route at an incense stick making house.

Overnight in Hue.

DAY 5: HUE - FLIGHT OUT

Transfer to the airport or train station for you next destination.
